Werribee’s good form continued in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association south-west with victory against Spotswood.

One of the inform teams in the second half of the season, the Tigers put in another strong performance against Spotswood.

The Tigers made 3-229 from their overs with the Dean brothers both among the runs. Matthew top scored with 95, while Shaun made 47.

Adam Butterfield took two wickets but was expensive.

At 2-94, Spotswood was well and truly in the game but were then hurt by consistent wickets.

Spotswood was bowled out for 190.

Riley Vernon top scored with 57 at the top of the order.

Michael Kelly was the pick of the bowlers with 3-39.

Werribee sits third on the ladder. Spotswood now sits seventh, three points outside the top six.

Hoppers Crossing was the only other west team to take the points, beating Altona.

The A’s were bowled out for 126.

Fawwaz Abdul Sathaar and Connor Brown top scored with 21 apiece, with the top order all failing.

William Slattery took three wickets for the Cats.

The Cats lost one early wicket in the run chase, but from there it was pretty much smooth sailing.

The Cats finished 2-128.

Brett Smith top scored with 61.

Hoppers Crossing now sits ninth.

In other matches, Williamstown fell just short against Ormond.

Ormond made 190 with Cormac Hassett top scoring with 51. Sean Sturrock was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets.

The Seagulls looked on track at 3-122. The wickets would start falling, including the last three for just eight runs to be bowled out for 185.

Brenton Hodges top scored for the Seagulls with 59.

Ladder

Melton was skittled by Caulfield. The Lions made just 60, with Caulfield getting the runs two wickets down.

Taylors Lakes’ tough run continued, beaten by Moorabbin.

Moorabbin made 7-206 from its overs with Taylors Lakes bowled out for 160 in reply.

Yarraville suffered a big loss to Brighton.

Brighton made 6-245 from its overs. Yarraville fell well short, bowled out for 152.
