The Sunshine Business Association’s first Lunar New Year Festival went off with a bang on Sunday.

More than 25,000 people attended the event held in the main streets of Sunshine.

There was street food, kids activities, cultural stage performance, lion and dragon dancing, firecrackers and fireworks as part of the event.

Diana Nguyen entertained the huge crowd and gave away thousands of money in red-pockets to kids, while Tanya George rocked the crowd as the headline act on stage.

More than $800 was raised for the Refugee Migrant Children Centre as part of the Haircuts for Charity marquee run by Original Crew Barbers.

Sunshine Business Association president Vu Du said the festival was an absolute success.

“I am so proud we were able to make this festival happen with Covid restrictions and the worry people would not come – but they did, and all had the best day ever,” he said.

“We are very proud of the stage entertainment we sourced and presented, and our businesses that supported us through the planning of this. Also our Brimbank councillors who attended and gave us great vibes.”
