Six arrested as part of investigation

A St Albans man and Caroline Springs man are among two people arrested as part of an investigation into a drug syndicate linked to a number of street gangs.

Police arrested four people outside a commercial premises in St Albans on January 24.

A 21-year-old Caroline Springs man was charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine and possessing proceeds of court.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 24.

A 27-year-old Avondale Heights man was charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine, possessing proceeds of crime and possessing a controlled weapon.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

A 25-year-old Rockbank man and a 28-year-old Truganina man were interviewed in relation to drug and weapons offences and released pending further enquiries.

A number of items were seized from the men’s vehicles including cocaine, cash and weapons such as a baton, knuckle dusters and a flick knife.

Three days later police executed a number of search warrants at properties in Caroline Springs, St Albans, Avondale Heights, Maidstone, and Aintree.

A 53-year-old Rockbank man was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis and possessing cannabis.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 9.

Detectives also seized items including methylamphetamine, GHB, cannabis, cash and high-end clothing and accessories during the warrants.

A St Albans man was charged on Wednesday as part of the investigation.

He was charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing methamphetamine, possessing GHB and possessing proceeds of crime.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this month.
