Two charged in relation to alleged police car ramming

Two people have been charged after three police cars were allegedly rammed in Airport West on Thursday.

The charges relate to the arrest of a man and woman who allegedly crashed their stolen car into three police cars while trying to avoid arrest.

A police officer who was injured during the ramming has since been released from hospital.

The pair were also charged as part of Operation Hyperion which included two burglaries in Fawkner and Glenroy on January 19 and another in Altona North on January 20.

A 29-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with 42 offences, including intentional and reckless aggravated exposure of police officer to risk by driving, reckless conduct endangering life, unlicensed driving, eight counts of burglary, five counts of car theft and three counts of drug possession.

He was remanded in custody after breaking bail conditions.

A 24-year-old woman will face 25 charges including, eight counts of burglary, seven counts of theft, five counts of car theft, handling stolen goods and three counts of drug possession.

Both will reappear at a later date.
