Western United’s A-League season remains on hold with the club’s match with Macarthur postponed.

The two teams were set to play on Friday night, but United announced the match had been postponed on Monday.

“This decision has been taken to ensure the safety of players and staff at both clubs,” a club statement said.

“Players within the Western United squad remain in isolation due to positive Covid-19 test results received last week.”

It’s the third straight United match that has been postponed due to the pandemic.

Their January 1 match against Western Sydney Wanderers and their January 7 match against Sydney were also postponed.

United hasn’t played since Boxing Day when they lost to Melbourne Victory.

Western United’s next scheduled fixture is on January 19 against Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium.
