St Albans had a day out with the bat against Keilor in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division on Saturday.

Both sides have had mixed starts to the season, but were hoping to enter the Christmas break on a winning note.

St Albans elected to bat and were able to put on more than 100 for the first partnership between Simon Lambert and Brenton Cook.

It would set the platform for the rest of the innings, with the Saints making 7-290 from their 40 overs.

Lambert made 101, while Arosh Janoda made a quick fire 74 off 44 balls, which included three fours and seven sixes.

Lucas Elliott took three wickets for the Blues.

It was a poor start with the bat for the Blues, who were in trouble at 2-11. There would be some partnerships, but nothing big enough to make a decent dent in the run chase.

The Blues were restricted to 8-171. Daniel Starvis top scored with 57.

Both teams sit 3-3 and outside the top four heading into the Christmas break.

Sunshine United is one of two teams in senior division without a win.

On Saturday, the Tigers lost to Westmeadows.

Westmeadows made 9-194 from their overs. Nalin Amarathunga took three wickets for the Tigers.

At 1-90 the Tigers were well and truly in the game. It then started to go all wrong, losing 8-33 to collapse to 9-123.

The Tigers would fall well short, making 9-146.

In division 1, a 40-ball century to Kaushal Lokuarachchi guided Sunshine to a win against Seddon.

Chasing 7-203, the Crows made 2-208 in reply on the back of Lokuarachchi’s 108.

Deer Park also had a good win, against PEGS.

Deer Park sits atop the ladder at the Christmas break, with Sunshine sitting third.

In division 2, Sydenham-Hillside cemented its spot in the top two with victory against Newport-Digman.

It was a horror day for Keilor Park, skittled by Williamstown CYMS.

Grand United and Sunshine Heights both had wins in division 3, while Caroline Springs beat Moonee Ponds in division 4.
