St Albans: Fire truck machine stolen by thieves as crew battled blaze

Thieves have stolen $11,000 worth of equipment from a fire truck while firefighters battled a house fire in St Albans.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade crews were fighting a blaze on Main Road West just before 6am on Sunday when the thieves took away a $11,000 thermal-imaging device.

Detectives believe a number of men removed the small machine from a compartment at the rear of the truck, Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said.

Brimbank crime investigation unit detectives are investigating.
