Cricket matches were few and far between on the weekend across Brimbank and neighbouring suburbs.

Wet weather throughout last week and again on Saturday, left many competitions with no option to cancel games.

The Western Region Junior Cricket Association made the call to cancel Friday and Saturday matches on Thursday night after consultation with the Bureau of Meteorology.

All Sunday games were cancelled later on.

The Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association, Victorian Turf Cricket Association and Victorian Premier Cricket competitions were all called off on Friday.

Many of those matches will be rescheduled to a later date.

Even the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association, which regularly goes ahead on wet days, cancelled their senior men’s and women’s competitions.

The Cricket Victoria Women’s Community Cricket competition on Sunday attempted to get the competition underway on Sunday, with slightly nicer conditions.

Several matches in the shield competition were completed, but there wasn’t as much luck in the north-west A and north-west B competitions.

In the north-west B competition, Keilor forfeited its match against Clifton Hill (2), as it appears no other matches, including Williamstown CYMS and Sydenham-Hillside, didn’t get underway.
