A new website has been set up to keep residents in Melbourne’s north-west up to date about the latest COVID-19 information.
The Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) is one of nine public health units across Victoria, established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The unit is located at Sunshine Hospital and part of Western Health.
A new website for the unit has been set up to help provide the most up to date information about COVID-19 exposure, close contacts and insolation requirements.
At present WPHU’s focus is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team is made up of public health doctors, infectious diseases doctors, infection prevention nurses, epidemiologists, public health officers, contact tracers, administration officers and communication advisors.
In the future, as WPHU continues to grow they will focus on supporting the local community to stop the spread of other communicable diseases, and improve wider public health in the west.
