A Brimbank man as died as Victoria recorded another record day of COVID-19 cases.
After seemingly looking like cases were dropping in recent days, Victoria recorded 2297 cases in the past 24 hours.
It’s the first time a daily totally has surpassed the 2000 threshold.
There was also 11 deaths recorded, including a Brimbank man in his 80s.
There was 153 new cases in Brimbank.
COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said there had been a lower levels of rate of increase of positive cases in the western suburbs, including in Brimbank, than there had been in previous weeks.
He said there had been a significant shift and they were starting to see higher growth in the south-east.
