Vodafone users in some Brimbank suburbs will now have access to 5G on their mobile phones.
The company announced this week that 5G was now available for residents in Albion, St Albans, Ardeer, Burnside Heights, Ravenhall and Derrimut.
It is also being rolled out in Sunshine West and Albanvale.
For Vodafone customers the changes has the potential to increase network capacity, increase mobile network speed and lower network latency.
Wireless and transmission networks general manager Yago Lopez said new and existing Vodafone customers in those areas will be able to take advantage of the 5G network.
“5G has the potential to improve mobile data speeds and deliver an improved experience for our mobile customers through an increase to our network capacity,” Mr Lopez said.
“With millions of Australians at home in lockdown, more than ever Australians are looking to stay connected with friends and family, and now more locals can take advantage of Vodafone’s 5G network as it continues to roll out across the country.
“5G through Vodafone offers an exciting opportunity for those who are into gaming or streaming movies. The speed of internet downloads could be much faster, and it might mean loading an entire 4K film in under a minute or live streaming a virtual reality experience on the go.
“Vodafone will also not charge its customers extra for access to our 5G network on our current phone plans.”
