For Movelle Primary School, the focus of online school learning is making sure the pupils are having fun.
The school set up an online learning hub last year to make it easier for pupils and their parents.
Principal Karen Wood said the most important thing for the teachers was making sure the pupils were engaged and looking after their mental wellbeing.
“We’ve been doing a heap of different stuff,” she said.
“We have an online hub with videos and we’ve done a number of activities like crazy hair days.
“A lot of parents don’t speak English, so we were able to teach the students how to use it at school.
“Everyday we do two online activities along with their classes. We can give them support and check in with how they’re days are going.
“We want them logging in.”
As part of the learning, the school has given out gift vouchers for pupils being engaged and logging on, while helping some pupils out with iPads.
Ms Wood said that other schools had approached them about using ideas they had put together in the hub.
As part of the hub, the school mascot, a rabbit named Ramsey, does daily wellbeing check on the pupils’ mental health. .
“If they’re on track with their mental health, they learn better,” Ms Wood said.
