Ever wanted to try yoga and weren’t sure whether it was for you?

Now might be the time to try it, with Carja Yoga in Derrimut offering two free workshops during July.

The workshops will be held in recognition of International Yoga Day.

The sessions will focus on the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga.

For Elise Merchant, Ngoc Nguyen and Nancy Evans, yoga has been a life-changing experience.

Ms Merchant said the studio had become a special place for her after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Yoga has helped rehabilitate my body after being in hospital and losing most of my muscle mass,” she said.

Ms Evans, 76, continued to do yoga throughout lockdown.

“Yoga and meditation keep me sane and help me feel calmer within myself. It keeps me fit and I’m much more flexible than four or five years ago.”

Ms Nguyen, who was diagnosed with depression over a few years, said yoga had helped her.

“I couldn’t sleep without medication and treatment, and then I found yoga. Yoga helped me to heal myself, balance emotional and positive thinking.”

The workshops will be held on July 13 and July 15.
