The occupier of a parcel of land in Sunshine has been issued a planning infringement notice by Brimbank council for allegedly using the site as a skip bin business.

The council issued the notice to the occupier of the industrial land in early January.

Council alleged the land was being used for a skip bin operation, where waste was being temporarily stored, recycled and sorted, and then transferred for disposal off-site without a planning permit.

The notice was one of 13 issued by council in the first three months of this year, a council report has revealed.

Another notice was issued in January to the occupier of industrial land in Sunshine West, whom the council alleges was using the land for the repair of motor vehicles (generally heavy vehicles) without a permit.

Also in mid-January, the council issued a notice to a materials recycling operation in Brooklyn the council alleges was not complying with the conditions of a planning permit.

Other notices issued included failure to comply with the conditions of a planning permit issued for the development of land for multiple dwellings and the display of a real estate sign on a residential property for a period longer than allowed.

The council also investigated reports of illegal brothel, breaches of construction management plans and illegal dual occupancies.
