Tachos to lead COVID-19 recovery

Virginia Tachos.

Brimbank council has a new councillor portofolio to help the community to deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the last council meeting, the council announced it would add an additional portfolio to the 10 existing portfolios for the next two years.

Brimbank council brought in the portfolios in 2019 to help complement and support the council’s briefing and formal decision making structure by providing an opportunity for the councillors to become more engaged with, and develop an in-depth understanding of, the issues in relation to their specific portfolios.

An interim Brimbank COVID-19 response and recovery portfolio has been added to the list of portfolios for the period of the current councillor allocation, two years.

Councillor Virginia Tachos will look after that portfolio.

TMayor Ranka Rasic will take on the resilient Brimbank portfolio, as it is looked after by the mayor of the day. If a new mayor is elected during the second year, the new mayor will swap portfolios with Cr Rasic.

Cr Thuy Dang will manage the vibrant Brimbank portfolio and the sustainable Brimbank portfolio will be looked after by Cr Jae Papalia.

The proud Brimbank portfolio has been allocated to Cr Maria Kerr.

Cr Victoria Borg has been allocated the people portfolio while Cr Sam David has taken on the liveable Brimbank portfolio, Cr Sarah Branton the healthy Brimbank portfolio and Cr Trung Luu the connecting Brimbank portfolio.

Crs Jasmine Nguyen and Bruce Lancashire have been appointed co-chairs for the prosperous Brimbank and innovation Brimbank portfolios.

The council also allocated councillors to 20 committees and community groups.

The committees include the Brimbank Disability Advisory Committee, the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct Strategy Committee, Calder Highway Improvement Committee and the Metropolitan Transport Forum.
