Priceline Pharmacy’s Watergardens store is stepping up its community assistance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pharmacy has applied for a Victorian government scheme, which will give it the ability to hand out free masks to the most vulnerable people in the community.
The store was expecting stock late last week.
Watergardens Priceline Pharmacy proprietor Nicole Lentini said it was a terrific feeling to be able to help the community at a time of great need and the store wouldn’t be limiting the assistance to masks.
“I am so grateful to be in a position where improving people’s health outcomes is my main job,“ Ms Lentini said.
“I think it is so important that people know they can reach out to us, for medication delivery, masks, hand sanitisers, or even just a few items from the local grocery store if they can’t leave the home or are self isolating.
“Delivery is free for medications as the government subsidises the cost for people to stay at home and remain safe.“
Ms Lentini added that there were some important factors to take into consideration when wearing reusable masks.
They include; sanitising or washing your hands before using your mask; creating a seal around your face, without any gaps on the sides; cleaning your hands before removing the mask; and removing the mask by touching the ear hoops or straps only.
