A Keilor childcare provider is encouraging parents to take advantage of free childcare as part of the federal government’s COVID-19 relief measures.
Aussie Kindies Early Learning Keilor centre manager Mellissa Thomson said her team is hanging out the ‘welcome’ banner for families seeking to access the scheme.
“Our message for new families who think they may not be eligible for free childcare, or who have been turned away recently by other providers, is you are also welcome to discuss enrolling in our centre and benefit from free childcare under the relief package until it ends on June 28,” she said.
“We have prioritised access for the children of essential workers, vulnerable children and our currently enrolled families.“
She said the facility still has room for additional children.
Senior advisor pedagogy and practice Dr Lesley Jones said it was great to see so many people in the industry going above and beyond.
“Our community of teachers and educators are going above and beyond in remaining connected with children through educational packs, Zoom calls, Facebook live sessions and direct communication with parents.
“They really are the ’village’ parents need right now, and we urge parents not to hesitate in contacting us if they have questions about enrolling in early education and care.”
