Louis Grech loves motorcycles so much he decided to open a business so he could fix them for a living. He spoke with Tate Papworth about his passion and how he’s getting through the challenges of COVID-19.
What’s your connection to the Brimbank?
I was born and raised in the western suburbs. I’ve spent my entire life out here, so there was no other area I could imagine wanting to set up my business.
What do you like best about the area?
I like how central we are to everything. We’re minutes from the airport and the Melbourne CBD. We’re also close enough to national parks and state forests that it’s easy to head away for the weekend for a ride.
Tell us about Platinum Motorcycles and your involvement with the business.
I am the owner and founder of Platinum Motorcycles. I started in 2009 in Keilor East and we’ve been going ever since. I’ve got two people working for me at the moment – Robbie is my head mechanic and Sheldon is our junior mechanic.
Tell us about your passion for motorcycles.
Myself, and my employees for that matter, have ridden motorcycles from a young age. I’ve been involved in racing and I’ve always had a passion to fix things, which brought us to where we are now.
How is the business coping in these tough times?
We are staying positive, keeping our distance and getting our work done. Whilst there is demand, we are here to service the needs of our customers.
