Police hub a step closer

The state-of-the-art Wyndham police hub is a step closer with construction starting on the new complex last week.
Development officially began last week on the $45 million Wyndham Police Complex which will be one of the largest Victoria Police facilities outside of Melbourne CBD, with accommodation for approximately 550 police members, support staff and partnering agency staff.
The complex will replace the existing Werribee station to support the growth of numbers in frontline police and specialist officers being rolled out in the area.
The four-storey building, once complete, will include environmentally sensitive design features, consultation spaces, open office areas and staff amenities for the use of partner agencies, residents and community groups.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
Police minister Lisa Neville said members “deserve the best facilities”.
“The new station will be critical to support our record boost to police numbers to keep our community safe,” Ms Neville said.
The complex is included in broader Wyndham Justice Precinct being developed as part of the Werribee National Employment and Innovation Cluster.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the precinct would provide integrated justice services for the Wyndham community aligning policing, court services, corrections, health, and council services.
The police station is funded through the Labor Government’s massive police station infrastructure program, which is replacing and upgrading dozens of police stations and residences across Victoria.
