The world’s most famous and loved superheroes descended on Brimbank shopping centre last month for a spot of tea and plenty of fun.
The heroes normally spend their time fighting crime, but on this day, they were supporting something even more important –inclusion for kids.
Friend In Me, an organisation established in 2016 to promote social inclusion and spreading kindness, hosted the event.
The organisation’s founder Louise Larkin said it’s about ensuring no child is left behind.
“This came about after I heard about Logan, a little boy never invited to parties due to his disabilities,” she said.
“We wanted to make sure no child is ever left behind so we came up with Friend In Me.
“The name was initially from To y S t o r y, but we believe every child has a hero in them, so that’s how the superhero theme has come about … we really encourage the kids to come along dressed as their favourite superhero or princess.”
Children had the opportunity to have their photo taken with Frozen’s Elsa, Wonder Woman, as well as enjoy face-painting, balloon animals and a variety of tasty treats.
Friend In Me will host its main event on March 22 next year at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
