Motorcyclist dies after fleeing police

A motorcyclist died after fleeing police in Kings Park this afternoon.

Police intercepted a motorcycle on Kings Road shortly before 11am, but as they approached the bike on foot, it sped off in a southerly direction on Kings Road.

Police did not pursue, but a short time later officers located the bike and rider near the intersection of McLeod Road.

It is believed the male rider lost control of the motorcycle and struck a pole.

The yet to be identified rider died at the scene.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident and Professional Standards Command have been notified.
