An unusual type of fundraising event next week will offer rare insights into crime in Victoria and how its police solve major cases.
Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation’s Westgate branch and Keilor Rotary Club have joined forces to host Inside Story, at which senior police will reveal behind-the-scenes stories of investigations into some of the state’s most notorious crimes.
The audience will learn about details that were not covered in the media and gain an understanding of offenders and the investigating teams that came together to arrest them. Guest speakers will include Charlie Bezzina, a lead investigator with the homicide squad for 17 years, and Brimbank divisional commander Superintendent Glenn Weir.
Organiser Sergeant Mick Downes said profits from the event would go to the Blue Ribbon Foundation, which supports community projects that honour Victorian police killed in the line of duty.
The Inside Story talk will be on Wednesday November 19, from 7pm, at the Keilor Bowls Club.
Tickets are $25 and include a light supper.
