FFV: Brimbank Stallions’ new signing sets high goals

The appointment of a new full-time technical director of coaching, Domenico Gangemi, sharpens Brimbank Stallions’ focus on becoming one of the premier junior set-ups in the Football Federation Victoria.

Gangemi moved to Australia from Italy only eight months ago and has already experienced success in a similar role with Avondale Heights in the NPL1 competition, playing his part in the club’s promotion to the top-tier NPL last season.

The Stallions spelled out their ambition to become the top junior system in the state and Gangemi was keen to share his knowledge and apply his expertise to ensure it comes to fruition.

“My focus is to bring the best program for the youth,” Gangemi told Star Weekly.

“We want to be the best club for youth in the state.

“We want only professional coaches here and we put a new rule in our club that no parents will coach their kids.”

Gangemi had links to the Stallions through the running of the Juventus Soccer Schools program at the Furlong Road club.

He is a UEFA B and FFA B-licensed coach and is in the process of obtaining his FFA A licence.

With an eye for young talent, Gangemi was a talent scout for Seria A club Sampdoria and has also been involved in other youth programs.

The chance to implement the Juventus style of play across the junior age groups at the Stallions was a big attraction.

“We want to bring the Italian mentality to soccer to the club,” Gangemi said. “I can work under the Juventus structure … it’s one of the best clubs in the world.”

In his short time with the Stallions, Gangemi has been impressed by the club’s structure, and he’s looking forward to working with youth in his first season.

“I come from professional soccer and I can say that this club is very organised,” he said.

“I’m happy to have found this club.”
