A dream of teaching a new generation of dancers has paid off for Rebecca Magazzu, with her Taylors Hill dance school celebrating its 10th anniversary.
When Ms Magazzu opened Constellation Dance Academy, the small school offered just a few classes in Cecchetti ballet, jazz, contemporary and Pilates.
Ms Magazzu said when she opened the school, she wanted to create an academy that had a point of difference.
Ten years on, two of the school’s original dancers still train with Ms Magazzu.
“It’s more like a family rather than a competition school. We do place importance on the ballet exams, but for most of our dancers, it’s all about fun,” she said.
Ms Magazzu, who has been dancing since she was a child, said opening her own school was a natural progression.
“Opening the school was a way for me to pass on my knowledge and passion for dancing to other people,” she said.
“Dance for us is a passion, a way to express ourselves, have fun and stay fit.”
Constellation Dance Academy celebrated its 10th anniversary on Friday with a mid-year dinner dance and will continue the celebrations at its end of year concert in November.
