Milkman bashed, robbed

Police are investigating after an Albion milkman was bashed and robbed while making a delivery in Sunbury on Christmas Eve. Fawkner Embona taskforce detectives say the 21-year-old man was returning to his truck parked on McInnes Close when he was approached by three men at about 1.15am. The trio, one armed with a metal pole, demanded cash from the driver, who handed over a small amount. One of the men struck the victim in the ribs with the pole before damaging the van.

Police stand-off resolved

A man was taken to hospital after a two-hour stand-off with police in Sunshine West last Tuesday. Police responded to reports of a family violence incident at Warmington Road about midnight. A man, aged in his 40s, locked himself inside the house and members of the police critical incident response team were called in. The man was arrested about 2am.

Man on remand after fire

A man has admitted setting fire to a Deer Park home in which two people were killed in 2013, a court has heard. Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge told the Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 14 that David John Campbell, 45, had made full admissions to police. Mr Lethbridge agreed to adjourn the case to give Campbell, of Tullamarine, more time to discuss the matter with his lawyer. Campbell was remanded to appear at a further committal mention on February 3.
