Car show a healthy habit

The annual David Calleja Memorial Car Show is revving into Bacchus Marsh this February for its 10th year.

The car show is run by Djerriwarrh Health Services in memory of David Calleja who was an influential businessman and devoted community member.

Mr Calleja was an avid car collector, and his family continues to display rare and un

ique automobiles at the show.

Since its beginning, the car show has grown rapidly and now features more than 750 cars and 100 bikes, as well as trucks.

All funds raised from the car show are used to buy medical equipment for the Bacchus Marsh and Melton Regional Hospital and for Melton Health.

Djerriwarrh Health Services director James Rubeli said the car show was a major fundraiser, without which local services would not be able to purchase much-needed equipment.

The show attracts as many as 5000 people each year, and the numbers are growing.

This year’s main attraction will be a 1914 Vermorel, which was built in France and is the only original of its kind in the world.

The car show is on Sunday, February 1, at Maddingley Park, Bacchus Marsh.

Tickets are $5 for adults, while children under 14 enter free. Gates open to public at 8am.

Entry for competitors is $10 per vehicle and gates open at 7am.

Trophies will be awarded to the best in each category.
