Vintage style: 12 Hemphill Road, Sunshine, 3020

This post-war, three-bedroom residence is the ideal opportunity to own a classic and stamp it with your mark.

Resting on a large block with a neat picket fence edging the front and the driveway, the house has a paved porch leading from the garden path to the front door. The door has a leadlight feature inset and opens to light-filled entrance with shiny floorboards that continue to a large lounge room and through most of the dwelling.

The living space has elegant period features including original picture rails, decorative cornices and ceiling mouldings paired with a stunning light fixture. A stone chimney and hearth framing the wall heater provides a lovely focal point, while bifold doors help keep the lounge room a quiet sanctuary when necessary.

Traditional timber and glass sliding doors lead from the living room to the dining space which also has decorative wall and ceiling features and is adjoined with the kitchen.

This large area has plenty of smartly panelled cabinets in cream, a generous breakfast island that is overhung by more cabinetry, while its floor is lined, classically, in pale linoleum.

An adjoining sunroom through a connecting door has storage space and a ceiling fan to help keep things comfortable. Just outside, there is a timber landing with stairs that descend to a sunny backyard with plenty of space for more entertaining zones, barbecue areas, various garden projects or even a swimming pool. A paved, double carport also sits out here.

In the bedrooms, there are built-in robes and the main has views of the lovely front garden and its mature trees. The family bathroom, meanwhile, is bright and light and comprises a shower cubicle, toilet and vanity set against limed timber panelling.

Security screens, a secure gate, brick paved driveway, heating and cooling add to the appeal, and the house is within two and half kilometres of a variety of schools, medical centres, Sunshine station and Sunshine Plaza shopping centre.
