Police step up homicide investigation

An information caravan has been set up in Sydenham as police hope for a breakthrough in the brutal death of Vicki Ramadan.

The 77-year-old’s body was discovered by a neighbour inside her Marlborough Way home 10 days ago.

Police said Ms Ramadan had been “brutally assaulted”.

“There’s still a lot of unanswered questions,” Detective Inspector Stamper said. “It was a brutal attack. There’s no other way to put it. A vulnerable, 77-year-old woman living by herself. It really was a horrific attack.

An information caravan will be at the intersection of Melton Highway Service Road and Stratheden Court in Sydenham from 10am to 5pm today.

Police are appealing for anyone who had any involvement with Vicki or who may have knowledge of her whereabouts since Saturday, March 23 to contact them.

“What we are also interested in, is if anyone can provide details of any suspicious activity in and or around Vicki’s Marlborough Way home,” Inspector Stamper said.

Investigators, with the assistance of Major Crime Scene Unit and Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit, will also revisit the scene and surrounding areas, as well as speak to local residents.

Forensic police are also re-examining an abandoned home after several squatters spoke to police in connection to the murder.
