Classic beauty: 1/30 Esmond Street, Ardeer, 3022

This gorgeous, renovated 1950s weatherboard house has its original soul and today’s style and energy.

Surrounded by a primrose fence with butterscotch posts, its front garden has a brick path with colours that accentuate the houses’ caramel facade. This path leads to an elevated patio and an intimate sundeck that is screened by thriving greenery.

Inside, its original honey-coloured timber floors shine underneath high ceilings and alongside walls that have been refreshed throughout in crisp white.

To the right of the entrance hall, the formal lounge room has a floor to ceiling picture window with a view of the cottage garden and a children’s playground in More Park across the road.

The living area adjoins the dining room and its surrounding kitchen. The latter has been updated with gleaming finishes including stainless steel appliances and plenty of storage cupboards with soft-closing doors.

Across the hallway, the main bedroom has a large built-in robe, ceiling fan and views over the sundeck and the parkland of Kororoit Creek.

The second bedroom also has a ceiling fan and along with the study, sits close to the family bathroom at the rear of the house.

This cool space has been refreshed with white subway wall tiles and earth-toned ones on the floor. It also has a timber-topped vanity with a contemporary above-counter basin, while the shower is finished in soothing blue, white and black hues and has new fittings.

Outside a decked undercover eating area faces a tidy back yard edged with brick pavers, plants and shrubs, while the timber decking extends into the yard and up to a gateway to a carport at the rear of the property.

Finally, the abode also has a split-system and ducted heating and is located a short distance from schools and public transport and has easy access to the Western Ring Road.
