Police arrest three men and seize guns after alleged Sunshine shooting

Three men have been arrested and firearms, drugs and cash have been seized by police following an alleged shooting in Sunshine.

Police were called to City Place following an alleged dispute between people known to each other on Saturday about 2.05am.

Police allege that a firearm was discharged during the dispute, injuring a 43-year-old woman. She was treated by paramedics at the scene.

A 27-year-old man was arrested nearby, allegedly in possession of an imitation handgun.

Police allege that a subsequent search warrant executed at an Albion property uncovered two long-arm firearms and ammunition that were seized by police.

The man was charged with possessing and using an imitation firearm, possessing a  firearm and possessing ammunition without a licence.

He has been remanded to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on March 28.

A second man, a 34-year-old from Sunshine, was arrested by the Special Operations Group on Sunday. He is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates Court today in relation to the shooting and drugs and weapons charges.

Two further search warrants were executed in Sunshine West and Caroline Springs on Sunday night, with police saying five firearms, two conducted energy devices, and a quantity of drugs and cash seized.

A Caroline Springs man, 33, was arrested this morning and was charged a number of offences including with possessing, carrying and using an unregistered general category handgun; possessing ammunition without a licence; and possessing methyl amphetamine.

He is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
