A taste of Sunshine

A cultural food journey awaits with the return of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival to Sunshine this year.

Now in its third year, Sunshine Food Fever promises to showcase the best the suburb has to offer.

Diners will be taken on a food journey celebrating the successive waves of immigration which combine to make Sunshine one of the most culturally diverse places in Australia.

The journey begins at Thuan An on Hampshire Road where chef and owner Phuong will present his South Vietnamese traditional entrees.

Diners will then make their way across to Gojo Ethiopian Cafe and Restaurant where owner Daniel Alemar will showcase the dishes and culture of his homeland.

“We have all different types of food. Vegetarian, beef, lamb and chicken,” Mr Alemar said.

“I can’t wait. For me this is a very big day and I want to make sure everyone is happy.”

After the main course the evening finishes with North Indian sweets from the family-owned Classic Curry restaurant.

Owners Ash and Vasu will take diners behind the scenes of their business.

Sunshine Food Fever will be on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 22 from 6.30-9pm For tickets visit: www.melbournefoodandwine.com.au
