Brimbank recycling collections to continue as normal

Brimbank recycling and waste collection services will continue as normal.

The EPA  this morning has issued recycler SKM Services with notices requiring it to stop accepting recyclable waste materials at its sites in Maffra Street, Coolaroo, and Gilberston Road, Laverton North.

Brimbank is one of 20 metropolitan councils affected by this notice, however Brimbank director infrastructure and city services, Neil Whiteside said curbside collections will continue as usual.

“There will be no impact on the recycling and waste collection services council provides to Brimbank residents – council will continue to collect recycling (and waste) as usual and without interruption,” he said.

“This is a temporary situation. It is expected that SKM will be able to process recyclables again within a matter of days.

“Council is exploring a number of options to provide a temporary alternative for managing recycling until SKM resumes processing.”
