Police operation a success

Police in Caroline Springs and Melton  detected over 30 driving offences in the area during January as part of Operation Burrell.

The operation was conducted after a recent spike in collisions in the area caused by drivers failing to obey traffic signs.

The offences detected included 32 penalty notices (mainly for disobeying road signs and using mobile phones), four arrests for non-traffic related crimes (three outstanding warrants and a theft), and a suspended driver who had his car impounded and will be charged on summons.

The operation ran from New Years Day until January 31.
