Kealba-Green Gully cruises to a comfortable win

Kealba-Green Gully took full advantage of its clash against winless Northern Lions in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association Luscombe Shield with a points-boosting outright victory at Green Gully Reserve on Saturday.

The Cougars had already sealed first innings points on day one, so their order of business into the second day was to extract maximum points.

The Evan Long-captained side achieved its goal without needing to bat for a second time.

The victory was set up for Kealba-Green Gully on the first day when they rolled the Lions for just 80 after a six-wicket haul from Jaydan Moore and four wickets from Matthew Nadzielski.

The Cougars easily chased down the runs for first innings points before powering past the target to finish on 8-215 declared.

There were many and varying contributions from the Cougars batsmen, but it was wicketkeeper Dave Rogowski who led the way with 56.

Long remained alive on 39 when he declared, while Jarrod Catania produced 48 from the lower order.

The lead of 135 proved to be more than enough.

The Cougars skittled the Lions for just 115 in their second dig.

Moore was once again a menace to the Lions batsmen, taking 4-31.

He finished the match with a bag of 10 wickets.

Catania and Nadzielski took two wickets apiece for the Cougars.

Kealba-Green Gully is entrenched in the top two following the victory.
