A new campaign calls on Victorian voters to bring change to the homeless.
Run by Aussie Dollar Drop, the campaign asks voters to donate one dollar, on one day to raise money for the estimated 22,773 homeless people in Victoria.
The One Dollar, One Day campaign has been timed with the State Election for November 24.
The campaign calls on the community to donate their loose change to a good cause while casting their vote.
It is hoped it will raise millions of dollars to support the increasing number of people experiencing homelessness in Victoria.
Campaign ambassador Hamish Blake said: “If everybody who votes puts a dollar in … it will go a massive way.”
Campaign founder and Melbourne radio personality Matt Tilley, said the Aussie Dollar Drop had enormous potential to make a difference to a worthwhile cause.
“It’s a simple idea – to quite literally bring change to the homeless – but we could potentially raise $6 million if everyone contributed just one dollar to the cause on election day,” Tilley said.
“On a day where Victorians are called to make change, politics aside, the community can feel that they’re actually making a real difference this election through the Aussie Dollar Drop.”
