St Albans man charged over Footscray bank theft

A St Albans man has been charged following a theft inside a Footscray bank on Tuesday.

A woman was at the counter of the branch on Nicholson Street just after 2pm making a cash withdrawal.

As the teller handed over the money, the man reached over the victim and snatched the money out of the teller’s hand before fleeing the scene, police say.

The man was arrested in Footscray on Wednesday morning and has been charged with one count of theft.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
