Police have arrested two men and a woman after discovering a “sophisticated” hydroponic drug set-up, including more than 1000 cannabis plants, at a Truganina factory yesterday afternoon.
Officers seized cannabis plants, fertilisers and hydroponic equipment.
A statement issued by Victoria Police said that an electrical bypass discovered at the Truganina factory “posed a significant risk to this building and others around it”.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jennifer Locke said police had “zero tolerance for drug traffickers and work to disrupt those seeking to profit from drug harm”.
“We encourage anyone with information about suspicious activity to report their concerns to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, anonymously if they prefer,” she said.
A 37-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman from Sunshine West and a 57-year-old man from Korumburra were arrested at the address.
Police said all three would be charged with cultivating and trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis.
They were remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.
