Copperfield College students have turned their school into a giant science laboratory.
Students from across the school gathered for the school’s second science fair.
Copperfield College’s Belinda Palladino said last month’s fair was a celebration of all things science.
“It was a fantastic day – the gym was full of kids from across the college who had entered a variety of exhibits,” she said.
“We had students exhibit robotics and potato power electricity, we had students who had created lie detector tests, water filtration, discovery of atoms and criminal minds,” she said.
Ms Palladino said the year 12 students provided a special project for the audience.
“The year 12 students showed how bacteria and penicillin work and how penicillin targets certain bacteria,” she said.
While the day was about having fun, Ms Palladino said there was an important message behind it all.
“It was about students having to explain what they created, what it does, and how it can benefit us in the future,” she said. It was really embraced by all the students – there were plenty of prizes and special mentions.
“This was our second year doing it and I have to be honest, it was a lot bigger than last year – it exceeded all expectations. I dare say it’ll be even bigger next year.”
