A bewildering array of goods – ranging from toys and books to shoes and socks – will be up for grabs when the Garage Sale Trail returns to Brimbank,
Schools, residents, businesses and community groups are invited to take part in the municipality’s second instalment of the nationwide event, which will be held on the weekend of October 20-21.
Brimbank mayor Margaret Giudice said the event was a perfect opportunity to get rid of clutter.
“The Garage Sale Trail is a fun way for people to declutter their homes, fundraise, meet their neighbours and re-use and recycle,” she said. “It’s a great way for communities to connect and interact with their neighbourhood around the issue of resource consumption and environmental benefits.
“Last year, Brimbank residents did a fabulous job supporting the program that led to over 90 individual and group sales across 12 suburbs – exceptional results for the first year of the program. In fact, Brimbank council received the Best Newcomer award.
“The event attracted over 2000 shoppers and over 18,500 items were listed for sale in Brimbank.”
