The Westvale Men’s Shed is on the lookout for community projects.

Westvale Men’s Shed champion Steve Tait said the group has a proven background in woodwork and is eager to help out.

“We’re looking for opportunities to help out local not-for-profit groups or schools with
their community projects and give back a bit,” Mr Tait said.

“We made a friendship chair for the Deer Park Primary School a little while back and we’ve done things like make Christmas toys like planes and little pull-along ducks.

“We’re really willing to have a crack at anything and everything. If we get stuck we can always go and look things up. It’s amazing what Mr Google can teach us.”

The group meets at the shed every Thursday and Mr Tait said it’s provided more than just an opportunity to hone their woodwork skills.

“There’s people here with varying skills and we all show each other things,” he said.

“It’s great to come here every Thursday, have a coffee and work on things.

“This is just a great little place to come down to and be with blokes.”

Those interested need to fill out a ‘project request’ form and submit it to the Men’s Shed, where it will be vetted.
