Carparking win for Keilor Park reserve users

By Ewen McRae

Work has begun on the $1.5 million upgrade of the Keilor Park Recreation Reserve carpark, with the gravel space to be sealed and extra spaces created.

After the project’s completion, there will be parking for 381 vehicles. New walking paths and crossings to improve safety will be created.

Brimbank mayor Margaret Giudice said the upgrade would be a welcome sight for users of the reserve.

“The current gravel carpark, located outside the Keilor Basketball and Netball Stadium, is an eyesore and a source of frustration for users,” Cr Giudice said.

“This project adds to the 60 carparks established as part of the extension of the Keilor Basketball and Netball Stadium in 2015.

“The works will be managed in four stages to minimise disruptions, while we continue providing access to the carpark during the construction.

“While there may be some short-term inconvenience, the long-term benefits of the carpark redevelopment will be well worth it.”

The carpark is used by the Keilor Little Athletics Centre, Keilor Park Synthetic Sportsfields, Keilor Park Softball Association and the Keilor Basketball and Netball Stadium.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-November.
