UPDATED: Police have arrested a 29-year-old Keilor man in relation to an armed robbery in West Footscray and an attempted armed robbery in Braybrook on Wednesday.
West Footscray Post Office’s Chris Linh Nguyen said a man armed with a machete demanded cash from staff about 3.20pm.
“He was carrying a black fabric Holden HSV satchel where he hides his machete,” he said.
“He spent time stalking us hence there were no customers there at the time, fortunately we had three staff there.
“Our staff have handled themselves in a calm manner and handed the cash over and he left not long after that.”
Police are investigating links between the incident and an attempted armed robbery at a business on South Road in Braybrook about 3pm.
Investigators have been told the man approached a staff member armed with a knife and demanded money.
The staff member called out for assistance and the man fled on foot empty handed.
No one was physically injured during either incident.
