Fire under investigation

About 20 people self-evacuated from a home in Corrigan Avenue, Brooklyn, after an adjoining shed caught fire on Saturday about 10am. Victoria Police is investigating the blaze which has been deemed suspicious.

Robbery arrest

Two men have been arrested in relation to a bank robbery at Laverton in December. A 55-year-old Altona man was arrested by police and members of the Special Operations Group, in Lark Street last Wednesday morning. A Mordialloc man, 43, was arrested the same day in Balaclava.

Vandals sought

Police are searching for three males who spray-painted the tags ‘SHAKE’, ‘FELER’ and ‘COBWEB’ on an inbound train at Yarraville about 7.10pm on Saturday. The offenders, all wearing dark clothing, ran away through a golf course at Anderson Reserve.

Cumming nominates

Maribyrnong councillor Catherine Cumming will contest the byelection for the Federal seat of Batman on March 17, as the candidate for the Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party. Cr Cumming also intends to run as the DHJP candidate for the Western Metropolitan Region at the state election.
