Armed robbery
Five men were arrested following an armed robbery at a Hoppers Crossing convenience store, just before 1.30am last Thursday. Police said they believe four men, aged in their teens and early 20s, entered the Morris Road premises armed with a machete and sword, while a fifth waited in a getaway car. The men allegedly threatened staff and stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene by car. They were arrested in Sunshine a short time later.
EPA fines business
The Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has fined a Laverton North business $7929 for installing equipment without seeking approval. Chemical container manufacturer and reconditioner Schutz Australia was fined after constructing a shed to house its new distillation unit without asking the EPA for permission. The EPA became aware of the shed when it was mentioned in an application the company lodged for approval to accept full containers of liquid from interstate.
Helmets a big hit
McDonald’s has donated Masuri helmets valued at $13,000 to the Werribee Cricket Club. Werribee McDonald’s licensee Michael Lee presented the helmets to players and officials from the club last week.
