The former Keilor library is set to begin a new chapter.
The Kennedy Street site will soon be made available for community hire after hours and on weekends.
It will also be used for activity groups on weekdays.
Brimbank mayor Margaret Giudice said the decision reflects community demand.
“Following the relocation of the Keilor Library to the Keilor Community Hub in April this year, we have undertaken significant consultation to determine the best future use of the site into the future,” Cr Giudice said.
“This included two listening posts, the establishment of a community consultative group and undertaking a formal expression of interest, focused on potential uses of the site.”
Cr Giudice said the future plans not only reflect demand, but also caters for multiple community needs.
“By allocating the site to Planned Activity Groups on weekdays and to other community-focused uses after hours during the weekdays and on weekends, we will be able to maximise its use and meet multiple community needs.
The council will also allocate space at the site to meet the needs of the Keilor Historical Society, including areas to display and store materials.
