Hit-run BMW that left girl critical found in Braybrook

Police are closing in on the driver wanted over a hit-run crash that critically injured a 13-year-old girl after discovering a car in Braybrook they believe was involved in the incident.

A damaged, dark grey 1 Series BMW was seized from a home in Braybrook on Tuesday night, however the driver remains on the run.

The hit-run collision occurred in Coburg just after 8pm on Sunday at the corner of Sussex and Bell streets, leaving a 13-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have been told the driver of a vehicle stopped briefly at the scene before fleeing.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the driver is believed to be a female, Asian in appearance and aged in her 30s with straight shoulder-length hair.

Investigators believe she may be in the company of a man, described as Asian and aged in his 30s.

Images and video of the vehicle that was seized have been released in the hope someone may recognise it and be able to provide details on the owner’s whereabouts.

The breakthrough discovery of the damaged BMW came hours after police released CCTV footage showing the same car and tracked down hundreds of BMW owners across Melbourne.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
