New shopping centre

Property fund manager Folkestone has gained Hobsons Bay council’s approval to build a Woolworths-anchored retail centre on the former Bunnings site at Altona North. The $70 million development at 290-298 Millers Road will also have “large format stores” such as Officeworks and JB HiFi situated opposite. It is to be completed in 2019.

Hobsons Bay chief executive Chris Eddy last week announced he would not seek to renew his contract in May 2018. Mr Eddy has been with the council since 2004 and was appointed CEO in 2012. He said the timing was right to pursue other interests.
