Teens from the West organise a night to remember

Teens from the west have helped create a night packed with artistic fun and flair.

The Teens Art Party at the National Gallery of Victoria, which will be held on Saturday, October 7, will provide a colourful world of Japanese and French-themed art, Dior-inspired fashion illustrations, food, music and dance.

Organised by students from St Albans, Essendon and Melbourne, the project is inspired by the gallery’s blockbuster exhibitions,

Hokusai and The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture.

Bridget Hayhoe, one of the students involved, said the party would be a memorable occasion.

“Art Party is such a great night, full of music, art, dancing and food and never disappoints,” she said.

“I completed work experience at the gallery in 2016 and was then recommended as a teen guide for Art Party.

“It’s given me the opportunity to help plan Art Party and work with some amazingly talented people.”

The Teens Art Party will offer teens aged 13 to 17 exclusive after-hours access to the exhibitions, pop-up art workshops, interactive activities, dance performance and live DJ sets.

NGV director Tony Elwood said the event continued to grow in popularity.

“Young people can connect with their peers and explore the gallery … in an interactive, safe and fun environment,” he said.
