Cars impounded in Sunshine West operation

Brimbank Highway Patrol members scored a two for one following a booze bus operation in Sunshine West overnight.

Officers were manning the site on Fitzgerald Road about 2am when a Honda Accord was waved in. Police discovered the driver, a 28-year-old Truganina man, was driving with a disqualified licence.

He was told that his car was to be impounded so he called a friend for a lift.

A 31-year-old Sunshine West man soon attended the site in a Toyota Rav4 to pick up his mate.

He failed an oral fluid test and was driving while suspended. His car was also impounded.

Both men are expected to be charged on summons with numerous traffic offences.
