Tunnel job opportunities

The West Gate Tunnel Project and Western Chances are teaming up to offer scholarships to five students from the west.

The West Gate Tunnel Project will fund the scholarships, valued at more than $5000 each across four years, to assist students with costs such as textbooks, technology and public transport.

The scholarship recipients will be offered cadetships on the West Gate Tunnel Project in their second year of tertiary education.

Werribee MP Tim Pallas last week visited Suzanne Cory High School in Werribee to announce the scholarships, which will be given next year to students from Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton, Moonee Valley and Wyndham.

Western Chances, a not-for-profit organisation, provides scholarships and opportunity programs to assist talented and motivated young people in Melbourne’s western suburbs who lack resources.

Western Chances chief executive Rhyll Dorrington said the organisation welcomed the support of the West Gate Tunnel Project.

“These scholarships and cadetships will have significant and ongoing positive impacts on the lives of the recipients and help Western Chances continue its work helping talented and motivated young people in Melbourne’s west,” he said.
